January 1895. Captain Dreyfus is stripped of his rank for selling military secrets to Germany and is sentenced to life imprisonment on an island off the coast of Guyana. Six months later, Georges Picquart, who has been appointed head of French counterespionage, discovers that the evidence was fabricated. From that moment onwards, risking his career and then his life, he doggedly seeks to identify the real culprits and to rehabilitate Alfred Dreyfus.
