THE GREAT ADVENTURE
by Arne Sucksdorff (Det Stora Aventyret, Sweden, 1953, 1h34)
starring Anders Nohrborg, Kjell Sucksdorff, Gunnar Sjöberg
8-year old Anders lives on a farm in Sweden. One day, he saves a sea otter from being killed by a fisherman and tames it in secret. The animal then introduces him to the mysterious and wild world of the forest. Part animal documentary and part fiction, this film is the precursor of a genre and it is captivating for the beauty of its images and its hymn to life.
