Kriz, an experienced, irascible and racist police officer, arrives in a small border town in northern Bohemia with the task of solving a murder linked to another crime perpetrated four years earlier. His investigations draw him into the town's large Vietnamese community which lives by its own rules. He is assisted in his inquiries by Ahn, a local police officer who knew the victims well.
