Budapest, 1953. During the period of political trials, Janos is imprisoned. His wife decides to hide the real reason for his absence from his sick, elderly mother. His mother imagines that he has left for America and every day she impatiently awaits his letters. Two very fine portraits of women, but also a touching look at old age and passing time.
