Spain, 1931, the Republic is proclaimed. Five years later, the Popular Front wins the election. But the Nationalist right rises up, led by an obscure general: Franco. This marks the start of the most terrible of civil wars, bloody, pitiless, with a succession of horrors preluding those of the Second World War.
