1940. Former Prime Minister, Léon Blum, refuses to flee the country but knows that he is endangered by the Vichy government. So Jeanne Reichenbach decides to abandon everything in order to bind her fate to that of this widower who is 27 years her senior and with whom she has secretly been in love since adolescence. When he is arrested, wherever he is detained she follows him and she sacrifices her freedom to join him in Germany, where he is ultimately incarcerated.
