When she meets Mussolini in 1907, Ida Dalser is dazzled by his enthusiasm and charisma. Believing in him and in his ideas, she even goes to the point of selling all her possessions in order to help him. A son is born of this relationship. But when war breaks out, Mussolini leaves for the front and disappears from the young mother's life. She is later astounded to discover that he is already married.
