Rome, 8 May 1938. Everyone is in the street, waiting to greet Adolf Hitler. Meanwhile, in a large unoccupied apartment block, a mother instilled with her husband's Fascist ideas meets a subversive homosexual banished by the political authorities. They will gradually strike up a relationship while commentary on the event blares out on the radio.
