Eight-year-old orphan, Simon, has an extraordinary power: he is able to take on the appearance of those he touches. He strikes up a friendship with Thomas, a boy of his own age, who has the family Simon has always dreamed of. Thomas has a little sister, Madeleine, with whom he is secretly in love. Everything is turned upside down on the day when Simon is the only witness to an accident that costs Thomas his life. He then decides to take on his friend’s appearance.
