Phnom Penh, 17 April 1975. The Khmer Rouge has seized power. Like many others, young mother Chou and her family are deported to the countryside where they are to be re-educated through forced labour. On the way, she is accidentally separated from her little 4-year-old son. Chou is devastated. Although having to fight for survival, she will do everything to find the child and lead her family towards a better world
